My word for 2012

As I pray and meditate on what God wants from me and my ministry this new year, the word that resonates over and over in my mind is: MENTORING.

It has alot to do with one of the central verses in my life,

“Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son, and Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and lo, I am with you always days until the end of the world. Amen.” Matthew 28:19,20

My life and character today are the product of the effort, sacrifice, dedication and commitment of others to teach me to observe all that Jesus has commanded us. God used my parents in my early years to guide me to walk in the fear of God. Today, God has used older and wise women, obedient to Titus 2, who use their valuable time and example to teach and encourage me to live a virtuous life that glorifies God.

This new year I want to study and learn about being a good mentor as well as a good mentee myself. Jesus modeled and commanded it. It certainly is one of the most efficient ways to advance the kingdom of heaven!

What a great word! I did a series this month on the characters of Christmas and actually talked a bit about this (I think it was called “Auntie, HELP!”). Anyhow, writing that post renewed in my heart a desire to not only pour out, but to sit under and learn from. I found myself just this afternoon calling a beautiful friend who is more experienced in marriage and child rearing than I and asking for time. When I left her home, I felt so encouraged and strengthened. I felt like God Himself had encouraged me. Truly, this type of relationship is a part of His plan. I am excited to read more about how this unfolds for you in 2012. Thanks for visiting Graceful Abandon!

Thanks for your encouragement Lisa! Jesus indeed modeled it, I want to follow in His steps!
Lord willing, I will be sharing what He does throughout the year. God bless!

Love this goal! Something we all should really be trying to be better at.

Thanks Teresa! Yes, this should be a lifestyle.
I am working on a mentoring program I can offer to younger, single ladies. I will be blogging about this in the hext coming days.

      God bless!
