Want to make a difference?

Be an encourager! Our world often throws at us more discouragement than we can bear, make a difference!

Nurture a compassionate heart. Generously share your smile with others. Be alert to the needs of those around you and be ready to help. Respond in a sweet manner to everyone. Always open your mouth with words that will build other up. Resist thinking and speaking ill of others. Don’t let small stuff disturb your joy. See that your life revolves around Christ. Set an example for others to follow.

When you take a stand to be an encourager, you will bear good fruit, bless others and give glory to God.

As I pray and meditate on what God wants from me and my ministry this new year, the word that resonates over and over in my mind is: MENTORING.

It has alot to do with one of the central verses in my life,

“Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son, and Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and lo, I am with you always days until the end of the world. Amen.” Matthew 28:19,20

My life and character today are the product of the effort, sacrifice, dedication and commitment of others to teach me to observe all that Jesus has commanded us. God used my parents in my early years to guide me to walk in the fear of God. Today, God has used older and wise women, obedient to Titus 2, who use their valuable time and example to teach and encourage me to live a virtuous life that glorifies God.

This new year I want to study and learn about being a good mentor as well as a good mentee myself. Jesus modeled and commanded it. It certainly is one of the most efficient ways to advance the kingdom of heaven!

“Moses stretched out his hand over the sea, and the LORD caused the sea to withdraw by a strong east wind that blew all night. This dried up the sea and the waters were divided.

Then the children of Israel went into the sea, dry, and the waters were like a wall to his right and left.”
Exodus 14:21, 22

 

If God asked the Israelites to pass through the middle of the sea, THROUGH TWO WALLS OF WATER, why will He not ever ask you to do something humanly insane? If you think about it, the whole Bible is full of stories of people that did things outside of the logical, human order.

Many others decided not to attend His call. They probably did not want to risk their lives, their reputation, their comfort, or even their own plans. They did not make it to the pages of Scripture.

How about you? Would you be willing to obey God and risk everything you have for His sake?

Are you doing it in your marriage?
In your parenting?
At your local church?
With your friends? With your words? With your eyes?

Many have done it before us. Let’s leave a legacy for future generations.

♥ I uplift and don’t discourage

♥ I sacrifice and get out of my comfort zone

♥ I refresh and am not a burden

♥ I care and don’t manipulate

As a Christian, when I think about life I try to see the big picture.


God created the world and mankind.

Man sinned against God.

Man no longer has the privilage of fellowship with his Creator.

Out of love, God provided a bridge for man to get to Him.

Jesus became that bridge, when He defeated death at Calvary.

I have been made free through Christ.

I am saved to spend eternity with my Creator in a Perfect World, Heaven.


So remind me again, why am I still on earth?

Paul said that for him to live was Christ, for the benefit of the ministry (Phil. 1:21,22). So I must conclude, every day should be an opportunity to get closer to being like Christ. Loving others, serving, forgiving, gving, praying, worshiping God, obeying Him. But, why?


I find two importante reasons:






†That my life is used to help others find the love & hope that is only found in Christ

†That my life is an encouragement to all brothers and sisters to shine with Christ’s love & hope 




 These are high and noble callings.
